Falling Like a Star
by Cara Dillon

I'm falling like a star, and I'm holding on for dear life
I'm about to reach the ground
I'm coming home to Earth
I've reached my town

And they said that you couldn't sit on a cloud, cause you'd fall right through
Well how is it then, that I managed to?
And how did I say what I just said to you?
Am I thinking out loud, did you even ask me to?

I'm falling like a star, and I'm holding on for dear life
I'm about to reach the ground
I'm coming home to Earth
I've reached my town

And the streets are empty how, but for the wrong reasons
They've all gone and left me alone
And they left with a vengance, and they talk of their experience
And they'll try and convince me, to join them

Holy, Holy
Holy is the only word I know these days
Holy, Holy
Holy is the only word I know these days

Those flowers have never experienced anything like this before
They've been picked from their wilderness, put in a jar
Now they're feeling the heat of this room

And I'm falling like a star, and I'm holding on for dear life
I'm about to reach the ground
I'm coming home to Earth
I've reached my town

Falling like a star
I only came down for a day, I didn't want to stay
Falling like a star
I only came down for a day, I didn't want to stay

Quest

I am on a quest.

I have heard about the mysterious workings of a Loving Creator on our planet. I have read stories, some spanning as far back as 6000 years, some as recent as yesterday. Indeed, there are many amongst us who have even reported personal sightings of such wonders. And there are even more who have actually tasted moments of His goodness.

These moments have awakened my senses and have concentrated my passions onto the scented trail that spirals through time and beckons us forwards. It is this trail that I follow, that I choose to pursue, that I dare to believe in.

How far will it lead?
How perilous will it be?
How reliable is its scent?

I am not entirely sure.
What I do know is that there was one – Jesus, whom they called the Christ – who blazed this trail through life into death itself and opened up the other side to lead us as far as eternity. I know that he warned that the road would get as narrow as the eye of a needle. I know that he promised that He would personally guide us by His spirit.
And then he smeared his own blood over our earth in the ultimate demonstration of His enduring love and undying commitment to us and our planet.

Because of Him, I believe in this journey.
I believe enough to follow Him through the bruised and battered brokenness of our world. I believe enough to devote my life to the impassioned pursuit of His presence, His power and His purposes in every dark corner and every mountain peak of time and space that we have been given to explore. I believe enough to invest into a community of people who are also finding faith to believe.
And everything I have discovered along the way so far, has simply wetted my appetite for what is yet to come.

Our road together has only just begun.
As a community, we are only just starting to crack open the potential within our city.
We have not won any medals, nor built any real monuments or mega – organization.

But we are learning to follow Christ and to re – present His dreams for other people and our world.

One day, we will be the ones who will build new organizations and ministries and buildings and families and schools.

Until then, we will seek His face and serve one another in love.

Thanks for sharing this journey with me.
Its so much better doing it together.

Expedition

ex·pe·di·tion n
1. a trip made by a group of people for a specific purpose,
for example, to explore unknown territory, to do scientific study, or to achieve a military objective
2. a group of people who go on an expedition together

There are 6 billion people on this planet.
All of them have already begun their journey through life.

But very few know what expedition they are on. Many do not know where they are going and most do not have others who will go with them.
As a result, they end up wandering – busy doing, accumulating, running – but with no clear direction. Some fall into survival mode and terrorize others on the path, simply to stay alive. Many simply give up the expedition and settle for a cave.

Meanwhile, time moves on. And instead of using our precious supplies of health and energy and resources to strengthen us forwards, most end up spending their days, stockpiling as much as they can get to protect them for a rainy day.

Many wise leaders have emerged along the way. They questioned and taught us many profound things – about the nature of our own existence, the commonalities we share with the other creatures on this planet, how to experience happiness within ourselves, how to live at peace with others, about changing our world and the revolutions that can make our society a better place to live – amongst many other things.

But there has only been one leader who was able to announce the way, and then offer his own body as the doorway. Only one leader has been able to wave a flag big enough to reignite the adventure of this journey throughout earth and heaven and even hell – and still live to tell the tale. He wandered together with us as a Jewish carpenter in a society of great political and religious oppression and with a trumpet blast of 3 short years has succeeded in rousing a quarter of our planet to journey again, with Faith and hope and love.

Some call Him Jesus.
We call Him our Saviour, our King, our Friend.

Now we no longer need to wander or stomp or cower through life.
Now we journey, learning to walk together with Him on this expedition: Love – inspired, hope – filled, faith – empowered.
And now we don’t do it alone. We join with some of the greatest men and women in history, with other great friends in our city – and we look forward to sharing the journey together with you.
After all, this is one journey that was meant to be done together.

Life is a journey.
And be – cause of Jesus Christ, we can do this journey with hope, walking in faith and experiencing love.

But there are many other causes in this world – and they cause people to despair, to experience fear and to walk in pride and shame.
And so because of parents, lecturers, bureaucracy, friends – or the little old lady in the blue Toyota corolla who cut us off on the freeway, we end up stalling on the journey with hate and guilt and confusion and cynicism.

It was the work of Jesus Christ to enter the traffic jam of our world to present a powerfully different cause: Love and faith and hope that could cause extraordinary changes in otherwise hopeless situations. He did this 2000 years ago and began a movement of Spiritual life that has swept around our globe, causing change throughout our world: one life at a time, from the inside – out.
